In-vivo preclinical testing

Comprehensive services and training are available for the design, development and execution of in-vivo studies including but not limited to: 

  • Statistically robust experimental design 
  • IACUC protocols and EHS requirements 
  • Tumor induction and monitoring 
  • Drug administration, biodistribution, and toxicity 
  • Integrate animal imaging to monitor disease progression 
  • Tissue and/or fluid sampling 
  • Tissue harvest and preparation for histology and pathology 
  • Data analysis 

In-vivo imaging acquisition and analysis

The PMIT has a multi-modal imaging platform that is available to users:

  • Imaging study design
  • Optical Imaging: Fluorescence and Bioluminescence
  • Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
  • Quantitative gamma counting
  • Micro Computerized X-ray Tomography (microCT)
  • Cryo-Fluorescence Tomography (CFT) 
  • Ultrasound and Photoacoustic Imaging (US/PA)
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Image analysis workstations
  • Specialized data analysis and software tool development

Independent and assisted use of facility instruments

Training in the use of any imaging platform, including image acquisition and processing software, is available and required for all new users. Please see the contact facility page to schedule training. Most facility instruments are available for independent use after an initial training and orientation session provided by Core staff. MRI, PET/CT and CFT imaging are available on an assisted basis only. Staff-conducted imaging on investigator-submitted samples is available for all imaging modalities.
