Metabolite Profiling

The Metabolite Profiling Core Facility is to support research projects at Whitehead Institute, Koch Institute and MIT community by enabling investigators to profile small molecules (metabolites & lipids) in a variety of biological samples using state-of-the-art high resolution accurate mass Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS).

Services include:

  • Experimental design and consultation
  • Sample preparation protocols
  • Method development and optimization
  • Performing the HRAM LC/MS runs
  • Data analysis & interpretation
  • Training on result processing

The Metabolite Profiling Core is a joint and shared institutional resource between Whitehead Institute and Koch Institute providing investigators fee-for-service and walk-up access to modern metabolomics and lipidomics LC/MS techniques.

Access is available to all members of the MIT community, to the extent permitted by available capacity. In recognition of funding support, priority access is given to members of the Core’s sponsoring entities (Koch Institute and Whitehead Institute) and NCI-funded research projects. In special circumstances, access may be available to non-MIT users (details available on request from the Facility Director, Norman Lee).

The Metabolite Profiling Core is supported in part by funding provided to the Koch Institute from a National Cancer Institute Cancer Center Support Grant.
